Wifflefest will be adding a special promotion this summer, in honor of our tenth anniversary. EVERY TENTH REGISTRATION WE RECIEVE WILL BE TEN DOLLARS OFF. So go tell you friends and teammates that it might be a little easier to play in Wifflefest 10!

I was reading a book today called “The Journey Towards Relevance” by Kary Oberbrunner when I came upon a story that really shook me.  Kary had been discussion what it looks like in our world today to live with a mind transformed by our Lord. In other words, what does the incarnation of a transformed mind look like? He started telling the story of his friend Mark and his wife Jessica.  Mark and Jessica were the founders of a house church, which they called The Landing Place. Their church was located in Columbus and resembled the early church described in Acts.  These christians actually lived life together; they ate meals, created art and did Bible studies together.  What an example of relevance in today’s world!

Then comes the kicker. After Jessica gave birth to their son Micah, she found out she would be entering an intense battle with cancer. Kary inserted jounal entries that following Mark’s emotions and mindset through the battle. I was stretched, shocked, and encouraged by his response to it.  I encourage you to read the book, and if not, at least evaluate your mindset and outlook on life.

I’ll leave you with this quote from Mark:

“Have you ever watched you twenty-six-year-old wife squirm in complete agony, calling out to God to take away her pain, only to have it grow worse? I have.”

That’s right, two of Ashland’s most popular Fourth of July events are joining forces this year.  While you are looking up in the sky, look out for wiffleball games to be played at Freer Field this year!

Wow, as hard as it is to believe, this summer’s Wifflefest will be the 10th one for us here at Southview! We hope that you have had the chance to join us in the past, and if you haven’t, let this year be your first!

Wifflefest is an annual wiffleball tournament centered around the Fourth of July. It is a lot of fun for the whole family and for any age. Join us this year as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary.
